§ 19-314. Created; boundaries.

  • (a)

    There is created a recreation district to consist of territorial lands and property, both real and personal in the parish, in accordance with RS. 33:4562 et seq, and Article 6, Section 19 of the Louisiana Constitution of 1974 and other constitutional and statutory authority supplemental thereto, to be a body corporate in law and a subdivision of the state, known as "Recreation District No. 39A of Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana (the "District")", the boundaries of which are fixed as follows:

    Begin on Tangipahoa River at the N.E. corner of H.R. No. 43, T4S, R7E and run west to the N.W. corner of the said H.R., thence south to the S.E. corner of H.R. No. 39, said township and range; thence west to the S.W. corner of same; thence north to the section line on the north side of section 28, said township and range; thence west to H.R. No. 44, Said T and R, thence north to the N.E. corner of same; thence west along the north line of said H.R. No. 44 and continued along the north line of H.R. No. 45, T4S, R6E to the N.W. corner of same, thence south to the section line north of section 25; and T and R; thence west to the N.W. corner of said Section 25; thence south to the S.W. corner of Section 24, T5S, R6E; thence easterly along the section lines between sections 24 and 25, T5S, R6E, 19 and 30, T5S, R7E, 20 and 29, T5S, R7E; thence north along the western section line of Section 42, T5S, R7E; thence east along the northern section line of Section 42, T5S, R7E; thence south along the eastern section line of Section 42, T5S, R7E until the midpoint of said section line thence due east between Sections 21 and 28, 22 and 27, 23 and 26, to the southeast corner of Section 23, T5S, R7E; thence north to Tangipahoa River; thence north along the meandering of said river to the point of beginning.

    (b)

    The district contains within its limits one municipality, Independence. The governing body of this municipality has given consent to inclusion of such municipality in the district. The district shall be and is a political subdivision of the state, within the meaning of the constitution and statutes of the state relating to incurring debt and issuing bonds therefor.
