§ 22-58. Authority of council to install traffic control signals.

  • The council may provide for the procuring, erection and maintenance of traffic control signals exhibiting the words "go," "caution" or "stop" or exhibiting different colored lights successively one at a time, or with arrows, or directing pedestrians to "walk," "don't walk" or "wait," or exhibiting flashing red, yellow or amber lights, and it shall be unlawful to fail to comply with any such signals in the manner provided by R.S. 32:232, 32:233 and 32:234; provided, however, that vehicles may turn right on a red or "stop" signal, after coming to a complete stop and yielding the right-of-way to conflicting vehicles or pedestrians, if there is in place at the location a sign or marking authorizing such turns.
