§ 7-57. Operation permit.

No person shall operate a chicken house and/or hog pen of any kind unless he has applied for and has been issued a permit to operate by the duly authorized representative of the parish health unit. Permits shall be issued only to the person responsible for the establishment and shall not be transferable. Permits may be suspended or revoked by the duly authorized representative of the parish health unit if the establishment is found operating contrary to this article. Permits shall be required only for establishments housing in excess of 500 chickens and/or ten hogs whose combined weight exceeds 1,000 pounds.
