§ 18-72. Disposal fee and penalty.

  • (a)

    Roofing material, as defined in this chapter, delivered to the Tangipahoa Parish Regional Solid Waste Facility that is accompanied by an approved permit shall be charged a disposal rate not to exceed $14.00 per ton. This disposal refers to roofing material only not roofing material mixed or commingled with other solid waste.

    (b)

    Roofing material, as defined in this chapter, delivered to the Tangipahoa Parish Solid Waste Facility that is not accompanied by an approved permit may be subject to a civil fine not to exceed $500.00 and the disposal rate shall be not less than $28.00 per ton.

    (c)

    Roofing material, as defined in this chapter that is transported within the boundaries of Tangipahoa Parish that is not accompanied by an approved permit may be subject to a civil fine not to exceed $500.00.

    (d)

    Roofing material, as defined in this chapter that is transported within the boundaries of Tangipahoa Parish must be contained in a manner that does not allow the falling, blowing, sifting or any other means of conveyance for which said material is intentionally or unintentionally discharged.

    (e)

    It shall be unlawful to intentionally or unintentionally dispose of roofing material in an unauthorized area, public or private. Roofing material must be disposed of in a duly permitted and licensed landfill.

    (f)

    It shall be unlawful to allow roofing material to fall, blow, sift or exit the transport vehicle in any way onto any road located within the boundaries of Tangipahoa Parish.
