§ 23-55. Public hearing.

  • Before issuance of the permit required by the foregoing, a public hearing before the parish council shall be conducted at a regularly scheduled meeting within 30 days after the application for drilling or construction is filed. At the hearing the applicant shall provide the following information:

    (1)

    Current ownership of the land upon which the well is to be drilled or constructed.

    (2)

    The name of the driller.

    (3)

    The location and capacity of the well to be drilled or constructed pursuant to permit and the location and capacity of any existing wells within a 1,000-foot radius of the well to be drilled or constructed pursuant to this permit.

    (4)

    The aquifer to be drilled.

    (5)

    The purpose of the ground water to be produced.

    (6)

    Such other information as the council may reasonably require to permit it to accomplish the purposes of this article.

    After certification by the parish permit office that all provisions of this article have been complied with, the parish council shall issue the permit.
